Heavy vehicle inspections in Western Australia connect with national enforcement database

Main Roads Western Australia’s 25 transport inspectors are now carrying real-time heavy vehicle analytics on site using the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Regulatory Compliance Mobility Solution (RCMS) app.

The RCMS WA app will enable Main Roads WA to target high risk offenders, access a central database with driver and vehicle information, and administer digital notices during a heavy vehicle intercept.

WA Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the RCMS WA app will deliver improved road safety across the state.

Rural Road Safety Month: NHVR urges drivers to stay safe behind the wheel

Rural Road Safety Month – an initiative of the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) – runs throughout September, prompting the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) to today issue an urgent reminder to all drivers to take additional care and heed safety warnings.

Despite regional areas being vastly less populated than urban centres, fatalities on rural and regional roads account for about two-thirds of the road toll every year, with 811 lives lost in 2023.

Stay Rail Safe: NHVR urges heavy vehicle drivers to take extra care this Rail Safety Week

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has urged all heavy vehicles drivers to remember to take extra care when travelling near or across rail lines during this year’s Rail Safety Week (5 – 11 August).

The annual community awareness week is an initiative of the TrackSAFE Foundation, with the goal of promoting safe practices on and around the rail network.

A health check on Australia’s heavy vehicle fleet: NHVR launches National Roadworthiness Survey

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has launched the National Roadworthiness Survey (NRS), to drive safety and efficiency improvements to the mechanical condition of Australia’s heavy vehicle fleet.

NHVR Chief Operations Officer Paul Salvati said NRS 2024 will commence in July and run for approximately 12 weeks across all states and territories.
