Australian Defence Force Class 1 and 3 Heavy Vehicle (Defence Assistance to the Civil Community) Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

The Notice grants eligible Australian Defence Force (ADF) vehicles exemptions from the mass and dimension requirements for Class 1 and 3 heavy vehicles when operated under the Defence Assistance to the Civil Community (DACC) framework. This notice does not authorise operation by heavy vehicles for general (non-defence) purposes.

National Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.2)

Authorises the use of Class 1 load carrying vehicles that are up to 5.5m wide, 35m long and 5m high (state and territory dependant).

Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicle Mass Exemption Notice 2023 (No.1)

Authorises the use of Class 1 load carrying vehicles that are up to 115t (state dependant).

Multi-State Class 3 Heavy Vehicle (Cotton Transportation) Dimension Exemption Notice 2022 (No 1)

The purpose of this Notice is to allow specified Type 1 road train combinations transporting cotton modules between cotton farms and cotton gins to be exempted from prescribed dimension requirements in Schedule 6, Part 2 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation.

National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Exempts eligible agricultural vehicles and combinations from certain mass and dimension requirements of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation, and other certain requirements of the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation, and places conditions on their operation in designated Agricultural Heavy Vehicle Zones.

National Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle (up to 40t total mass) Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Provides mass and dimension access for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) up to a gross mass of 40t. Eligible SPVs include:

• articulated steering cranes
• concrete pumps
• Prescribed SPVs
• truck based SPVs
• truck cranes.

National Class 2 4.6m high and/or 25m Long Vehicle Carrier Authorisation Notice 2024 (No.1)

Authorises the use of Vehicle Carriers from 4.3 to 4.6 metres in height, or from 19 to 25 metres in length, or both, in stated areas or on stated routes, during stated hours of stated days and states the conditions under which these Vehicle Carriers may be used.

Authorises access for Class 2 heavy vehicles that are B-doubles.

National Class 2 Bus Authorisation Notice 2024 (No.1)

Authorises the use of Class 2 heavy vehicles that are buses, other than articulated buses, that are longer than 12.5m.

National Class 2 Heavy Vehicle 4.6m High Livestock Carrier Authorisation Notice 2024 (No.1)

Authorises the use of Livestock Carriers from 4.3 to 4.6 metres in height in stated areas or stated routes, during stated hours of stated days and to state the conditions under which these Livestock Carriers may be used.

National Class 2 PBS Level 1 & 2a Truck and Dog Trailer Authorisation Notice 2024 (No.2)

Authorises the use of 3 and 4 axle trucks towing 3-, 4- or 5-axle dog trailer PBS combinations on gazetted networks.

This Notice refers to other documents that may also be required to be carried including other notices, certificates, codes of practice, maps etc.

National Class 2 Performance Based Standards (High Productivity) Authorisation Notice 2024 (No.1)

Allows certain Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles to operate on approved networks without the need for a permit.

National Class 2 Performance Based Standards (Tier 1) Authorisation Notice 2022 (No.1)

Provides eligible Tier 1 Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles with immediate access to relevant PBS networks across Australia to operate on approved networks without the need of a permit as soon as a Vehicle Approval is issued, although this may be at a restricted mass.

National Class 2 Road Train Authorisation Notice 2022 (No.3)

Provides complying road trains access in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria. The national notice introduces simplified and more nationally consistent conditions for road trains, supporting more seamless cross-border access.

National Class 3 20m Long 3-axle Truck and 4-axle Dog Trailer Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Provides 3-axle truck and 4-axle dog combinations that do not exceed 20m in length with access to approved networks in the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

National Class 3 Bus Rear Overhang Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Grants an exemption from rear overhang dimension requirements for Class 3 buses, other than articulated buses, that are longer than 12.5m but are not longer than 14.5m.

Exempts eligible vehicles from complying with certain dimension requirements when transporting specified commodities for consumption by livestock in drought-affected areas.

National Class 3 Mechanical Tarping and Safety Harness Systems Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Exempts a stated category of Class 3 heavy vehicles from the width limit in section 7(1) of Schedule 6 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation.

National Class 3 Rear Overhang Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.2)

Grants exemptions from dimension requirements for a Class 3 heavy vehicle that has a forklift mounted to its rear.

National Class 3 Road Train Prime Mover Dimension and Mass Exemption Notice 2022 (No.1)

Provides length exemption to eligible combinations under the Notice. It also provides flexibility for operators of road train prime movers to continue their travel when decoupling from a road train combination and to access networks when not operating as a road train.

National Class 3 Spreader Box Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Exempts a Class 3 heavy vehicle fitted with a spreader box from the width limit stated in section 7(1) of Schedule 6 of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation.

National Class 3 Truck and Dog Trailer Mass Exemption Notice 2023 (No.1)

Exempts truck and dog trailer combinations from prescribed mass requirements and provide access on certain networks under specified conditions.

National Class 3 Vehicle Carrier Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1)

Exempts the stated categories of Class 3 heavy vehicles from the stated dimension requirements of the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation specified in the Notice, subject to specified conditions.

Grants exemptions from work diary and record keeper requirements for drivers of vehicles operating for, or under the direction of, an emergency service.

Provides alternative short rest break requirements for drivers of fatigue-regulated heavy vehicles carrying pre-mixed concrete.

Exempts a heavy vehicle that is fitted with dual steering controls and used for waste or recycling collection, or street sweeping, from certain requirements of the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation.

National Heavy Vehicle Standards (Emergency Services Speed Limiting) Vehicle Exemption Notice 2024 (No. 1)

Exempts emergency vehicles that are heavy vehicles from complying with certain requirements of the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation.

National Heavy Vehicle Standards (Flashing Warning Lights) Exemption Notice 2020 (No.1)

Exemption from certain vehicle standards requirements where there is a safety requirement for a heavy vehicle to have one or more flashing warning lights fitted.

This notice refers to a letter of authorisation and other documents that may be required to be carried.

National Heavy Vehicle Standards (Partially Completed Vehicles) Exemption Notice 2023 (No. 1)

Provides drivers under Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) and Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) with up to one hour of additional work time in a 24 continuous hour stationary rest break to use a fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle for permitted personal activities.

National Livestock Welfare Work and Rest Exemption Notice 2023 (No. 1)

Exempts drivers of fatigue-regulated heavy vehicles carrying livestock from specified work time requirements if additional time is needed to respond to situations where the welfare of the livestock is or was at risk.
